    Happy Bud-day Toronto!

Well, it’s far from ideal but the day is finally here! Recreational Cannabis is officially legal in Canada. Yes Ontario isn’t going to have legal physical dispensaries anytime soon, OCS’s launch selection is a joke, not to mention its high prices. Edibles and concentrates are not going to be available anytime soon and the city of Markham just passed the bylaw prohibiting smoking in the public while some condos are banning the act anywhere within/near the buildings including the balconies So for some people it may feel like nothing has changed. Yes you’re allowed to buy weed exclusively from an online store with a limited selection, insufficient and inaccurate descriptions…

The different ways to consume cannabis

For people who don’t mind the smoke, smoking is the easiest and fastest way to consume cannabis and experience the expected effects. The cannabinoids are absorbed through lungs in seconds, avoiding first pass (the phenomenon of drug metabolism during which the concentration of a drug is greatly reduced before it reaches the systemic circulation) with the effects peaking in 30-60 minutes lasting less than 3 hours. It is also the least health-conscious and the most wasteful method. Vaping/Vaporizing follows the same method of administration but without combustion which makes it just as fast-acting but without the health risks of inhaling smoke and the toxins in it. Beside being easier on…

The best way to decarboxylate cannabis using household equipment

In layman’s term Decarboxylation is the process of activating cannabis usually to get the psychoactive effects. (We have a post describing decarboxylation in more details.) In order to decarboxylate cannabis we only need to heat it to certain degree and for certain amount of time. As the baseline for my experiments I use the following chart: The obvious solution to achieve this is to use oven but here is the problem: The household ovens are not accurate and the actual temperature can vary more than 20 degrees in relation to what has been set. I learned that after a few attempts when I decided to measure things more precisely and finally…

Decarboxylating Cannabis – All you need to know

Even if you have never heard of the term, you’re most likely doing it without knowing! Every time you light a joint or bake brownies you’re doing some level of decarboxylation on the fly! What is Decarboxylation? Decarboxylation is simply a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group (C(=O)OH) and releases carbon dioxide! Why do we Decarboxylate Cannabis? Most of the Cannabinoids are stored in their Acid forms in the raw cannabis plant. Most importantly the plant contains Cannabidolic Acid (CBD-A) and Tetrahydrocannabonolic Acid (THC-A) which both have powerful medical properties of their own but they are non-psychoactive, meaning they don’t make you high if consumed. That’s why you won’t feel the effects…

My first experience ordering weed online

I used to live in Downtown Toronto, where buying weed has been relatively easy at least for a few years now. Even before all the dispensaries opening up since the Liberal Government I was one of the fortunate ones with a card, having access to good quality medical cannabis and edibles. It has been a few years that I have been traveling for most of the year. Every few months when I come back to Toronto it’s almost like a whole new city. I have to ask around where Toronto Dispensaries are since most of the ones I knew from before are shut down. Purchasing from a new store means…
